How Can We Help You?

General

PowerX Water and PowerX Heat for Gas or Power-Vented Heaters you can most definitely install yourself and you don’t need any plumbing or other experience to do so. PowerX Heat for Electric Heaters can also be installed DIY but you should be familiar with electrical installations to do so, since you will have to switch off the circuit breaker to do so. Also, it may depend on the state you are in whether the installation should be made by an electrician. If you are unsure about installing or if your state requires so, we definitely do recommend a professional electrician. PowerX Electricity - while easy to install - should be installed by a professional electrician, since it directly interacts with a circuit breaker.

PowerX Electricity

Yes, we have extra clamps which you can purchase additionally to use with your solar panel(s). Simply attach the clamps to the solar panel's mains that lead into the circuit breaker box and you're good to go!

PowerX uses AI to tell apart appliances in the home. In combination with PowerX Water and PowerX Heat (the PowerX Suite) PowerX tends to be more precise than most single solutions currently available on the market.

While we measure electricity from the start it takes several weeks to learn and PowerX improves every day with more installations. That said, PowerX usually doesn't catch every device, especially if the device is low-wattage such as a laptop.

To improve the accuracy of PowerX we strongly recommend buying the PowerX Suite and buying our 3 extra clamps to measure 3 extra circuits. The PowerX Suite significantly improves PowerX accuracy because we get 360° data (e.g. a washing machine or dishwasher uses both water and electricity. When we pick up a spike it both PowerX can be certain it's not a dryer)

Please make sure that you've correctly connected PowerX Electricity to a free circuit breaker and turned power of the circuit breaker box back on. In the event that the Sensor still doesn't power on with either of the USB power cables it comes with, reach out to us at support@powerx.co along with your order information and we'll get back to you with the best solution.

You can buy an additional set of clamps from PowerX that can be used for measuring solar panel production.

Please check if PowerX works with your existing solar setup. If you aren't sure if your particular setup will work with your PowerX Electricity, please contact our Support team.

The device detection is not immediate. Most customers will see detections within the first one or two weeks, but it usually takes PowerX up to 6 weeks to detect the majority of appliances. Some individual appliances can take even months to be correctly detected. This is because the PowerX algorithm needs to see several on/off cycles of a device before it can start building a model for it.

The first identified appliances are usually those with a large consumption that run frequency, such as your washing machine, dryer or refrigerator. Smaller or less common devices such as televisions or computers can take longer.

Please not that a 100% detection of devices is unlikely, primarily because power quality and types of devices varies a lot across homes.
